Topic:   Device manager settings

I am running new computer, windows 10, with a new Vantec 2-port serial card. 9 pin to 25 pin RS232 on a Milltronics Cent 7 control.

The cnc is running slow at times like the data is being interrupted, using the RemoDNC software. When I run the same program loaded into the control, I don't have the same issue.I have not changed my previous settings from my old computer and cnc 9600baud E/7/2, Xon/Xoff.

Are my device settings in the windows 10 software interrupting the data? They are set the same as mentioned above.

Most of the device manager settings are ignored. Only FIFO is used. In device manager go to the serial port. Go to 'Advanced'. See the FIFO option. Not all ports have FIFO option in device manager. But if FIFO is there then set to zero and/or uncheck the box to disable FIFO.

No other options in device manager have any effect so ignore them. Only the FIFO should be disabled if it exists.

Also. In EasyDNC setup see the Send options. Look at the "Block Delay". Set this to a smaller number. Maybe even zero. Does that make any difference?

If the data feed is still slow then you may need to increase the Baud rate. Obviously you would need to change that in the CNC as wel so CNC and EasyDNC are the same Baud rate.

There are 4 FIFO settings that I can adjust with a sliding bar

FIFO Interrupt trigger levels
Transmitter: 1-127
Receiver: 1-127

Receiver FIFO Flow Control Thresholds
Flow ON: 1-127
Flow OFF: 1-127

Flow on defaults to 16 and flow off defaults to 112. I can't seem to get them to stay at level 1. There is no checkbox to disable it.

I've tried adjusting my block delay. It didn't seem to make a difference. I can only go down to 5 with the version I'm running. I'll try the block delay again.

The first noticeable delay comes after the initial tool change. The machine will do everything without delay, including the X,Y rapid move to position. Then the tool will sit there for about 15 seconds, before it makes a Z move.

It is noticeable on short rapid moves between feed moves while the program is running. On simple programs like a single facing cycle it's still noticeable. On a large roughing program it is even more noticeable.

The FIFO isn't the cause of your delays. It's just we prefer fifo to be disabled where possible.

What version of the software do you have? Block delay should be able to go to zero.

I loaded 5.0 on to my computer. I'll report back tonight.

Kitamura Mycenter 1 with DB25 female port. Can you email me the CNC/DNC settings and cable pin outs for male DB25M serial to DB9F? I have on hand now, a 10ft., DB9F to DB25M modem cable. Will this work and if so, with what remoDNC 5.0 settings please?

The upgrade to 5.0 seemed to help.
It is still pausing after a toolchange and XY rapid move before moving in Z.
The pause is only a couple seconds now. It lasts longer for more complex programs.

@Profile Mach.

Going back to that Block Delay. Set it to zero.

I think you need to increase the Baud Rate. If your program has lots of very small fast moves then the CNC is executing lines faster than the serial port is receiving them. So higher baud rate is required.

@IT Manager

Go to the EasyDNC.com main page. Scroll right to the bottom and see the CNC setting/cables etc. Your kitamura has a Yasnac control?
